Recently, I wrote two parables.
For those of you who don't know what a parable is,
it's a short story which strives to illustrate a moral or spiritual truth.
This is the first one of the two, and It is basically a conversation I had with my mum. :)
I hope you enjoy and get something valuable out of it.
If you do, consider letting me know in what way through the comment section.
Thank you for your time and attention,
THE PARABLE OF THE ENDLESS SEA AND THE POND
One morning I woke up.
I could hear the neighbours talk and birds sing through the open window.
Light was coming in. I couldn't quite make out if I had dreamt that night,
everything was fuzzy and it felt like much had happened.
Mother was getting ready to leave, and at one point she noticed I was awake, then stopped, greeted
me with a big smile and love in her eyes, and came to sit by my side. I made a space for her to sit
and she sat down. She caressed my hair and I could feel her love.
Then, I asked: Where are we when we sleep? Where do we go when we sleep?
At that point mother had gotten up and was ready to move on, but she stopped again and turned.
She stood there, thinking for a moment, and then replied:
Imagine the whole of existence is like an ocean. A vast, endless ocean without a horizon.
Somewhere within that ocean there is a giant aquarium. Within that giant aquarium there is an big
pool. Within that big pool there is a pond.
When we are awake, we experience the pond, we live within its boundaries.
When we relax, and meditate, we experience the pool.
When we sleep, we experience the aquarium.
And when we die, we return to the endless sea.
